NATIONAL E-NEWS - JANUARY 2021

From the President.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all,

Working with what we have and being experts in the art of compromise I wish each of you a positive and fruitful 2021 but watch out for those little buggers that sneak up on us.

This year we are working towards the National Awards in Canberra on Saturday May 1 at the National Gallery. Obviously with our old adversary COVID 19 still with us we will monitor the situation and keep you all advised. We are planning for some other events at that time so you can rest assured we will be working towards holding our Awards in person. Awards judging will take place on the 26,27,28 February, with the location still to be decided.

Please support the Society and respond to the ACS CENSUS, there is information below regarding links etc. We need you input to further advance the Society in the future.

We will have a new look website this year so that is something we can all look forward to. My thanks to the SA Branch including Ernie Clark, Daniel Charlton and Ineke Clark’s design team at Ambition Consultants, along with our ACS Brand and Style Guide Committee and the ACS Social Media Advisory Committee.

I want to once again thanks Lizz Vernon for her work as our e news editor for what seemed to be a lifetime and WELCOME Heidi Tobin who will be the new editor and will also look after web site updates. Thanks so much Heidi.

To our ACS National sponsors a huge thank you and a round of applause for C.R. KENNEDY who have returned as a Gold Sponsor.

Until next time

Ron Johanson OAM ACS
National President

Vale – Troy Gordon 8.6.1968 - 2021

Troy worked at Channel 9 News in Brisbane tackling all those hard-hitting local stories, I do remember as young blokes being up against him (as Assistants, in the media scrum elbows up), when Joe Bjelke Peterson was being tried at the Fitzgerald inquiry….

He worked his way up to being a very well respected Cameraman shooting both here and around the world…. War Zones and places of unimaginable hardships and things some people just shouldn’t see….. I never heard him ever talk about them too much ..  he was always a proud and stoic fella. READ MORE
