I want to extend heartfelt sympathy and best wishes to all who are recovering from the devastation of the floods on the east coast. Many have lost part or all of their homes or facilities and equipment and it is a slow road to a full recovery. Please keep an eye out for your fellow ACS members and community and check in on each other.
National Awards judging was held in Adelaide in February supervised by the SA Branch, and thanks go to Ernie Clark ACS, Mylene Ludgate, and Mal Ludgate ACS for their incredible support over the three days.
Thanks to our esteemed panel; David Foreman ACS (SA,) Susan Stitt ACS (NSW), Ron Johanson ACS (Qld), Arron Gully ACS (SA), and Ernie Clark ACS(SA), with Warwick Field ACS as Chair of Judges.
The overall standard of entries was extremely high (as you'd expect) making the judging challenging and interesting. As the Awards get closer, we will release the full list of nominees and then on the Awards night on Saturday, 30th April we will announce the recipients at the gala presentation in Adelaide at the Hilton Hotel.
Plans are well underway with the special events that will take place as part of the National Awards for Cinematography, please see details below, and make your bookings at your earliest opportunity. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

New ARRI B-Mount 24 V System
Many of you will know ARRI Product Marketing Manager, Sean Dooley.
In this linked Tech Talk video with Sean he introduces the new ARRI B-Mount, a 24 V on-board battery system for the future.
Also, in the video Sean makes reference to the much anticipated S35 4K camera from ARRI.
“The new camera that’s coming this year from ARRI will be a B-Mount native camera. It will be a 24V camera, and that’s because within that camera we have really exciting image quality improvements just need more power for. Hence, we have increased demands for resolution, for colour bit-depth, frame rates, all of these things require more processing which requires more power”.
For further information on the B-Mount use this link ARRI B-Mount.
Joel Egan "Makes Memories"
DP/Director and Victoria ACS member Joel Egan in collaboration with Volvo Cars Melbourne has released a narrative automotive film and series “Making Memories”.
Having been postponed three times due to lockdowns the project was shot over two blocks consisting of a total of five days broken into one day filming with each talent and two days of dedicated car tracking.
Extensive scouting was conducted in South Gippsland to pinpoint the best time of day for sunrise and sunset, with golden hour or blue hour, pre-dusk or dusk chosen for three particular emotive looks for the project.
