From the President.

Dear ACS members, warmest greetings to you all

To begin with, I wish to apologise to our National Secretary, Ben Allan ACS CSI regarding an article that appeared in the most recent AC Magazine, which incorrectly referred to the Director of this film as “Ben Allan ACS CSI” who is a long-standing member of the ACS.  Ben Allan ACS CSI had no connection with this project and was not the Director. As National President, I apologise to all involved for any misunderstandings and inconvenience caused. I also apologise without reservation to the Director of the project itself; Ben Allen for any misunderstanding this has caused.

Well the 2021 ACS National AWARDS for Cinematography takes place in Canberra at the prestigious National Gallery on Saturday, 1 May commencing at 6.30 pm.

Remember this is the Awards night of nights and a formal evening it is, so dust of the suits and ready those after 5 dresses and get ready to celebrate.

Here are all the links you will need to go online, reserve your Awards presentation tickets, reserve accommodation, reserve complimentary invitations to the “special events”.

Let’s all get together in Canberra and celebrate the ACS, our Awards and friendships.

Until next time
Ron Johanson OAM ACS

VALE: Paul Richards, A great sadness swept across the New Zealand industry this week. At NZCS, Paul was an active committee member, served as a Vice President, and often contributed his gear and facilities with humble generosity. He was a very experienced cinematographer and, more than that, he was our friend.

Postcard from Nicola Daley ACS

Exciting! The trailer for a show I worked on last year ‘Domina’ coming soon. I had the pleasure of working with brilliant director Debs Patterson and first AD Alex Szgowski. Alongside the superb gaffer Daniele Cafolla and production designer Luca Tranchio.

Postcard from Rosehaven Season 5

Congratulations to the cast and crew of ‘Rosehaven’ who have just wrapped filming season 5 in Tasmania.

Rosehaven was shot by DP Murray Lui and his team on Lemac’s Panasonic Varicam LT and EVA1 & paired with Cooke Optics S4/i Prime lenses.

Looking forward to the season premiere later in the year on ABC TV
