Christmas Wishes from your National Executive
To all our members, sponsors and supporters, wishing you every happiness this Christmas Season and throughout the coming year. 2013 looks like a bumper year for us all. Here's some of the events the ACS are planning:
2013 GEOFF BOYLE ACS WORKSHOP TOUR
Renowned cinematographer and CML founder, Geoff Boyle will be returning to Australia in May for a special ACS - RAW Workshop tour. His first ACS workshop will be in Canberra on May 25, the day of our ACS National Awards. Geoff will then tour workshops for the ACS in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, between May 26 and June 9 2013.
Dates and venues are still to be finalised so more information will be available in the New Year. ACS members will be eligible for discount tickets.
NATIONAL AWARDS FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY, Canberra May 25
Canberra will be celebrating its centenerary in 2013 and there will be no bigger night than May 25th when Gold-winning cinematographers meet to celebrate their night of nights in our Nation's Capital! All welcome to come down for a weekend of festivities more details to follow in the new year just save the date now so you don't miss out!
ACS will be at SMPTE2013
The ACS will once again be involved with the hosting of various Masterclasses and Workshops as in previous years, at SMPTE 2013. SMPTEs biennial Conference and Exhibition is the pre-eminent event for suppliers, technologists and content creators in the motion-imaging, sound and broadcast industries. Maintain your competitive edge through exposure to the latest technologies, workflows and creative tools; and through ideas, key trends and case studies in the Conference programme. Exhibitors represent a broad cross-section of the industry, including showings from the sectors of Acquisition & Production, Post-Production, Management & Systems, Delivery & Distribution, Telecommunications, Displays, Content & Programming, Radio and Industry Resources. SMPTE is a must-attend event for your 2013 calendar.
This Christmas, and Throughout the Year, Buy Local!
The ACS has a very staunch group of supporters...our National and State Sponsors. Why not return that support to them and BUY LOCAL? Resist the temptation to purchase elsewhere and look to our own backyard. As I said, BUY LOCAL. Somehow it just seems right.

Completing the American Cinematographer Library Collection - can you help?
The ACS HQ Bruce Hilyard ACS Library has an almost complete collection of American Cinematographer from 1938 to December 2012. There are some missing issues from the war years 1940 to 1945 and a few from the early fifties. This is probably one of, if not the most, comprehensive collections of American Cinematographer in this country. We would love your help to complete the collection and help us find and acquire the missing editions. The issues we are missing to make the collection complete are - 1938 - Jan to August 1940 - June to December 1941 and 1942 - All 1943 - Jan to July, September, October, December 1944 - All 1945 - Jan to June and September to December 1946 - Jan to October. 1951 - June, July, October, November, December 1952 - All except June and October 1953 - All except August and November 1954 - Jan, Feb, June, July, August and October.
