Shadowcatchers Launch Photos

Below are just a few of the photos from the launch of our ACS book The Shadowcatchers; A History of Cinematography in Australia. We were very fortunate to have over 200 people present, including many featured in the book, along with the relatives of so many others. It was great to witness such a gathering of so many fine people in one room.

Please see the link below for the full collection of photos. Thanks to photographers Daniel Christie and his colleague Alex Weltlinger for capturing a fantastic photographic record of the evening.

The Digital Revolution - A Crisis in Cinematography

The alarm bells are ringing for cinematographers around the world, and as President of the Australian Cinematographers Society, Ron Johanson ACS, has written, "What we do as cinematographers is under threat. We are losing to technology and every new CGI movie drives another nail in the coffin."

To accompany the SFF screening of Keanu Reeves' documentary Side by Side, a panel moderated by cinematographer Erika Addis from the AFTRS, of top Australian Cinematographers including Peter James ACS ASC, Andrew Commis ACS, Danny Ruhlmann ACS and Kathryn Milliss, will tell it like it is and what it means to work in a digital environment.

This is also your chance to attend and take part in the discussion, and also find out what is happening globally in cinematography and what the implications are for Australian and International cinema.
