2012 ACS NATIONAL AWARDS FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY WITH REBECCA GIBNEY AS GUEST OF HONOUR

The 2012 ACS National Awards for Cinematography, to be hosted by the legend himself Ray Martin, will have as a very special Guest of Honour, Australian actor, Rebecca Gibney. The 2012 presentation will be on Saturday, May 5 at the Manly Pacific Novotel Hotel, Manly and are guaranteed to be pretty special. In addition we'll have a surprise guest from Canberra and entertainment from our very own Pieter de Vries and his All Stars.

The announcement of all the Golden Tripod winners along with the Special Contribution Awards, the International Award for cinematography, NFSA Encouragement Award, and culminating with the MILLI Award winner is always something very, very special. Something not be missed.

There will also be some fantastic door prizes courtesy of our ACS National Sponsors, including a Panasonic large screen Plasma television, and a chance to win Limited Edition Book number 1# of The Shadowcatchers: A History of Australian Cinematography.

As an additional part of the National Awards weekend, the ACS HQ will be open for all to enjoy from 10.00am until 3.00pm on Saturday, May 5.

ARRI at NAB 2012

ARRI launched a range of new equipment at the NAB 2012 conference in Las Vegas, including the following products:

ALEXA Plus 4:3
The ALEXA Plus 4:3, a new ALEXA model with similar functionality to the ALEXA Plus but featuring a 4:3 Super 35 sensor, the ability to switch from 16:9 sensor mode to 4:3 sensor mode and built-in licenses for high speed shooting, anamorphic de-squeeze and DNxHD.

Independent Handgrip System
A modular handgrip system that can be precisely adjusted on all axes and attached to any standard 3/8-16 mounting point on base plates, cages and cameras, or directly to lightweight and studio rods by means of two new bridge supports.

MBP-3 base plate and Camera Cages
The Mini Base Plate MBP-3 offers direct compatibility to the Nikon D4 and can be used with the Nikon D800 through a dedicated adapter plate; it is also adaptable to the Canon 5D Mark III.

Recorder, Battery and Offset Shoulder Brackets
ARRI's new recorder bracket allows external digital recorders and their batteries to be mounted onto lightweight support and studio rods.

Canon C300 Handgrip Extension Bracket
The Canon C300 Handgrip allows camera operators to adjust camera settings while framing.

Epic/Scarlet Base Plate

LS-11 for Angenieux LWZ (LSP-1)
The ARRI LS-11 offers 15 mm support for Angenieux lightweight zooms through a dedicated pin (LSP-1).

MMB-2 Adapter Ring, Filter Thread Ring and Dual 4x5.65" Filters
Mini Matte Box 2 (MMB-2) is now offered with dual 4x5.65" filter capacity, opening the popular matte box to this industry-standard filter size.
