Dan Freene ACS began his career in the late 90's as an advertising stills photographer specialising in portraiture, and architecture. In 2004 he moved into the world of moving pictures and started filming commercials, short films and music videos. In 2011 he shot the critically acclaimed “Wasted on The Young" - Paramount. The debut feature film of Ben C Lucas, winning a NSW Silver ACS Award. In 2015 he shot his second feature film, "OtherLife" - Netflix. In 2019 he shot "The Portal" his first feature documentary. In Television Dan shot the ABC comedy Series 1 of “Soul Mates” created by the Bondi Hipsters, "Squinters" Season 2. The Cannes winning short series, "Over and Out", the You Tube sensation series, "Skit Box." And the AACTA winning six part SBS documentary “Hipsters.”
Best known for his flexibility and understanding of light, Dan has earned a reputation of being a master cinematographer that can deliver amazing results in a variety of challenging situations.
