Daniel is an Australian / Malaysian Chinese Cinematographer, and has grown up in Melbourne, Australia. After the completion of two degrees - Bachelor of Arts (Photography) at RMIT University (2006-2008) and Bachelor of Film & Television at Swinburne University (2015-2017), Daniel has been actively pursuing work in various fields of visual image making work, that being cinematography & gaffing.
He got his start as a portrait photographer, working within a studio environment. Later, he pursued gaffing work on a variety of short films & music videos, where he developed an eye for detail and the collaborative skills, that are essential to produce emotive cimagery. His primary focus is working on projects as a cinematographer.
He is best known for his cinematography work on Kulan Farah’s short film - ‘Hakuumacaato’. Notably, the film took home the ‘Remi Winner at Worldfest Houston International Film Festival, 2021 Award’.
Most recently, Daniel has been recently working alongside Director - Ryley Warrener, to DP on an upcoming short film - ‘Whippersnapper’.
