Biography

Alice Stephens is a Melbourne-based cinematographer with a strong passion for stories. Completing international exchange programs in Hong Kong and Philadelphia during her Bachelor of Film & Television at Swinburne, Alice discovered her love of travel, and subsequently travelled twice to Kenya to shoot short documentaries for the NGOs Slum Code and Women for Women.

Alice has embraced her adaptability to different physical and social environments and it continues to be key in her career, enabling her to direct, shoot and fully fund a short documentary about Israel’s Dead Sea in 2016. Her gentle and quiet nature behind the camera helps narratives form in a raw, unfiltered way.

Continuing to challenge herself and collaborate with new directors on projects including short films (both fiction and documentary), art and fashion films, and music videos. She prides herself on strong collaboration and ability to work from the elements of a story to find the best look for a film. With each new project Alice continues to challenge herself and push the boundaries of her craft.
